Dot Day, Forest Friday, and a School Wide Celebration!

This week we celebrated Dot Day by reading the book "The Dot" by Peter Reynolds and creating dots with different mediums. It was the first time we used paint so that was a big hit!

We also filled the school wide bee hive (each class dumps their honey jars full of buzzies into the big school one). We made a human dot by surrounding the entire school hand to hand, then gathered in the courtyard to sing "You Can Count on Me" by Bruno Mars. It was very sweet. We decorated bee crowns for the celebration and will keep them here at school for other celebrations this year.

This afternoon we had a great time outside, even though it was far too hot for our puddle pants. We started knocking down a path through the grass to get to the top of the hill, where we can explore some more trees and "wild" territory. We made it halfway and decided to go back again when it's a little cooler next week (we hope!). The kids were very excited about a caterpillar and we are going to do some research in our field guides on Monday to learn more about it as many think it is poisonous.
