In writing we learned that all pattern books have a main topic, so the title holds the book together, telling the reader what it will be about. There are words that stay the same, and words that change. Sometimes there is a surprise ending! In reading, we are making all the connections from writing, and also thinking about combining picture power and sound power by looking at the picture to think about what would make sense, and then looking at the first letter of the word that changes to figure out what the word might be!
In math we have been talking a lot about doubles and continuing our work with looking at the different types of ten frames (five wise, like five and some more, and pair wise, which shows doubles). We have been "flashing numbers" on our fingers to match the cards, which helps the kids learn how to show numbers in two different ways. Ask them to show you! We also are starting more work around recognizing and understanding teen numbers. We are playing games on the number line as a group and with partners.
Ms S came today and we learned more about Whole Body Listening. She focused most on "listening with your heart" and showing kindness and caring for others. It was very sweet to see them role play "things you might say to someone if..."
Lastly, it has been cold lately but the kids are really enjoying starting their day outside!
