Going out in the morning has saved us time in our morning routine and made the mornings in the classroom feel longer, giving us a little more time to get a little deeper in the things we are learning and some time to play too.
In reading and writing we are focusing right now on pattern books. This is a big time for our “super readers” to take off with their letter sound and sight word knowledge and really begin reading if they haven’t already! We are learning strategies as “super powers” that I will share in another post! The kids are loving it!
In writing we are thinking about pattern books also which is tying everything together in such a neat way. Kids are studying the pattern books from readers workshop and then using some of those ideas to write their own!
Pattern books are simple books that follow a predictable pattern, such as “I like pizza, I like cupcakes, I like salad” or “this is my mom, this is my brother, this is my dog”.
