Little Writers

The last week or so we have switched gears from teaching books to writing stories. We have told them aloud and in the last few days learned about adding more details to our stories such as WHO was there, WHERE it happened, and then all the details about WHAT actually happened. Today the minilesson was about speech bubbles, or talking bubbles. The kids were pretty excited to try it in their own writing and it was SO fun to see many of them leave their comfort zone and take a stab at inventive spelling (writing down the sounds they hear when they say words aloud). I'm not sure who was feeling more proud, the kids or teachers!! :)
Using an alphabet chart and LOVING recording sounds!!!
Sharing the words in her speech bubble "Let's go play with Archie"
