It is obvious around the classroom that we are nearing the end of kindergarten. The kids are taller, more mature, and so independent! Our class hums along through the routines and it is such a fun time of year to watch the kids grow, especially in their academic skills.
We have been learning about the Allen Brook, and exploring the waterways and the animals that live in and near the brook. It has tied in perfectly to our Old Mother West Wind read aloud "The Adventures of Jerry Muskrat". Students got to explore a giant map of the watershed this week, to see how all the streams and rivers connect back to the lake, so it's important we all do our job to keep it clean! In the coming weeks, we will be planting seeds, doing some experiments and learning about what seeds and plants need to grow, learning about birds and hatching chicks (in May). All connections to life cycles.
We got many new books from our donorschoose project, filling our library shelf with books about diversity, inclusion, and empathy. I am so humbled by the amazing support and generosity of this community, time and time again.
