Writing and Science

Hi Everyone,
Hopefully you have gotten an email from the Seesaw app that your child has a (adorable) video for you to view of them reading a true story they wrote themselves! They worked hard through the unit and all of them made great progress with their writing. Writing more, making it easier to read, and thinking about conventions. They went back and used a checklist to look at their writing and then revise it to make it better. I was really impressed with how open they were to doing this! They were really excited to add color to their pictures and then share it. What a difference from the beginning of the year how  comfortable they were using the Seesaw app and recording/hearing their own voice!
We are going to use the next couple of weeks during writer's workshop to change our focus a bit and look at both weather and maple sugaring. We will combine lots of science learning with writing in our science journals.  After that we will launch into a "How-to" writing unit.
This Thursday afternoon we will have our March Four Winds science lesson, and I am hoping to also jump back into our Forest Fridays with all this nice weather they are promising!
