Busy, Busy, Busy!
Wow, have we been busy! I wish I had time to post every single day to tell you all the wonderful stories I have to share about your kids! Here are a few highlights just from today!
This morning we made playdoh as our buzzy celebration. Kids earn "buzzies" for following the school rules "Be Safe, Be Kind, Be Responsible". When the jar is full, we celebrate! Not only was it fun, we had the added bonus of science, reading a recipe, and doing some guided discovery around how to play with playdoh!
We also had an unexpected fire alarm this morning! We had practiced with a drill a couple days ago and today we had a real one so I was happy we already practiced! Something with a potato, a microwave and a science experiment in first and second grade... needless to say the kids were very well behaved and patient!
We also had a visitor (Ms. Tursi) who is an English Language Learner teacher and works with students who speak more than one language in their home. She is introducing herself to all the kindergarten classes with a fun greeting (saying hello in several different languages) and a read aloud.
Later this afternoon we played on the hill outside our classroom and some children started their own game of duck, duck, goose! and others found this caterpillar we will attempt to identify tomorrow at morning meeting! (tomato worm?? any help is greatly appreciated, please comment below! )
We have been exploring math materials (polydrons, pattern blocks, and unifix cubes), making choices around the room, coloring and cutting raccoons from The Kissing Hand, and continuing to learn the many routines and rules of kindergarten! I can already tell this is going to be a great class.
