Things We've Been Doing!

Last week we had a great time doing Four Winds with Shani, Hans, and Rebecca. The kids learned about erosion through a puppet show and some fun activities. They pretended to be wind with a straw blowing rice and pasta, they pretended to be rain with a bottle and flour, and they worked hard to use materials from nature to help a pile of dirt from eroding. It was so much fun!

We have been learning about tally marks and using popsicle sticks to build tallies and "gates" to make groups of five to help us count more quickly. The popsicle sticks have been a BIG hit after math during choice time, building cities to mine gold and build shapes like houses and suns. So fun to see the kids creativity shine.

The kids also created some thematic objects for a class tree on our wall, and we used labels to label things they made. They have been using the words to spell in their nature books during writer's workshop.
