Kelso's Choice

Today Mrs. Tatlock came in for another guidance lesson! She started with two puppets (Pumpsey and Kelso) that had a problem they needed to solve! Kelso wanted a pen that Pumpsey had, and he got mad and pushed her. We talked about how to solve problems with our words, and brainstormed different things Kelso could have done instead. Mrs. Tatlock also read a book called "Hands, hands".  Learning through puppets and role playing is great for this age group, because they are engaged in the pretend play, and gaining skills for the classroom that they use on a daily basis!
In class, we are working really hard to use words to share what we want/need from friends. Friends are also working really hard to be good listeners when friends ask them to stop, share, or be kind. In the next couple weeks we will be talking more about Kelso and his choice wheel- nine things you can do to solve a problem!!

  1. We love Kelso's wheel and we encourage our kids to use it at home during sibling conflicts. Thanks for the copy!
