Today we had another fabulous morning of Four Winds! The children learned all about squirrels: where they live, what they eat, and some big differences between red and grey squirrels. They pretended to hide nuts around the classroom like a squirrel and got to look closely (like scientists!) at squirrel skulls and squirrel hides/tails.
Here's what the kids wanted to share with you that they learned:
I didn't know that a grey squirrel is bigger than a red squirrel (Sam)
Squirrels have bones (Hiwot)
We found a whole body with a tail (Mitchell)
We found a body and the tail wasn't attached (McKinley)
I learned that there are red squirrels (Ava)
I never knew that a flying squirrel was so small (Wyatt)
I didn't even know there was a flying squirrel! (Zach and Hailey)
I saw their whiskers and I saw their fur and skin. Some of it was missing. (Bella)
I didn't know that the squirrels bones were really small, and the flying squirrel has big eyes (Griffin)
I learned that grey squirrels are really bushy. They always run away from us (Abby)
I learned that squirrels like to hide their nuts in different places (Hayden)
I didn't know flying squirrels could fly (Kaiya)
