While reading the morning message this past week, children noticed that there are three small words in the name Griffin! They found in, if, and fin! They have been very focused and excited to find the word is in the books they read and look at throughout the day, and after this discussion they were SO excited to be finding the word in, everywhere around the room! Here is a short video of just a few of the places they found the word "in".

Sight Words
This year in kindergarten, we will be learning new "sight words" all the time! Some we will learn as a class, and others will come up during guided reading groups, specific to certain children. Sight words are words that we can now "sound out" phonetically, but rather need to just know automatically by sight! The hope is for kids to be able to read a list of 25 simple words by the end of the year. The words we have looked at so far include I, a, is, cat, no, yes, like, and.
