We have had a wonderful week in kindergarten! The first cold made it's way through the class, but we had lots of fun too! We have been reading many books about kindness and identity. Thinking about how we invite others to play, help everyone in the class feel seen, and how we treat others.
We had fun exploring the forest classroom and today did our first "sit spot". This class LOVES quiet time, and loves sit spots just as much! I set the timer for two minutes and no one spoke, and then they asked for more time! They are beginning to figure out how to engage in some open ended imaginative play in the forest space, hopping from stump to stump, exploring with sticks, and talking on pretend phones (tree bark).
We have continued our station time and added some new activities like tic tac toe at the art and sensory table, and blocks and bears. The kitchen area is a favorite spot for sure! Students are getting to know each other and making new friendships, and it is very sweet to observe and see them in action!
We introduced iPads for the first time this week, and will continue that weekly as we explore some different learning apps. Eventually we will use Seesaw to communicate with families, and programs for literacy and math during independent station time.
