We had a great time studying Force and Motion before February break. We focused on pushes and pulls for kindergarten. We kicked it off with some Mystery Science activities, learning about work words that machines can do for us in our houses (dishwasher, washing machine, etc) and on construction sites (excavator, crane, etc). Then we did some investigating with scooters from the gym and pushing bingo chips into walls and other chips. We watched some Olympic curling and replicated it with lacrosse balls and targets! We did many experiments with balls and ramps, both inside and outside and it was really so much fun. We made t charts each time about what we did and what happened, to begin learning about recording our investigations in science. Students also wrote and drew in their science journals many times, both making "plans" for things they would build and reflecting on how things went.
We did post a video of one of their constructions on their Seesaw accounts, so if you haven't seen it or don't know how to access it, please reach out!
