Busy, busy bees!
Hi Everyone! We are continuing our hard work in kindergarten and we have been SO busy! Some highlights include making applesauce with our apples from Chapin's (and then using the applesauce to make cookies for our buzzy celebration!
We are also continuing on with two letters a week with Fundations. So far we have learned t, b, f, m, n, i and u. It is great to practice these at home and have your children teach you the letter/keyword/sound and how to write them. In writer's workshop we are working on making books that stretch across the pages, making words and pictures, and more recently making books that tell true stories (a change from the teaching books we've been talking about). This is a class chart we made and refer to during Writing time:
It has been great to see the students using what we are learning throughout the day. Students are remembering the letters we have learned and referencing them to use in their own writing. It is SO much fun to watch!
In math we have introduced a couple new partner games and this week we have been talking about patterns. We have made patterns with animal noises, clapping and tapping, and today unifix cubes. The kids are getting LOTS of practice at the stations learning to write numbers 1-5 and this week starting 6-10.

I love that "How to write a true story chart." That is right up Luke's 'learning style' alley .,, sequential steps, pictures, and what TO DO, not just what NOT to do. Thank you for your excellent work, Laura.
ReplyDeleteHello Mrs. Dyer's class - I can't wait to read your stories. I love the "How to write a true story" chart that you made. You are all learning to be such good communicators!
